One of the best things about living in a small town is knowing everyone, and appreciating everyone. Although, I suppose that if you were a real sucky ducky, that is actually what you would hate the most about a small town.
I am not a sucky ducky. Therefore, I love it.
Today while I was at work, I got a phone call from one of my favorite ladies in town. She just called to tell me that she read something I wrote and to offer her compliments to me. It was something I wrote about being human, above all things. Feeling human, acting human, and realizing the humanity of others. And she called me at work to tell me that she appreciated what I wrote. I was touched, and I thanked her for calling me.
Two seconds later (seriously, two seconds), her husband showed up at my work and requested a word with me. We stepped aside and he gave me a teary-eyed hug, and gave me an emotional “Thank you” for what I had written.
This is what makes a town a community.
And this is what a community of love feels like.
