Today I strapped a snowboard on my feet for the first time in probably 5 years.
While I am a fully capable snowboarder, I am more naturally a skier. It’s quieter in my head when I am skiing. There are no exclamation points of panic. However, in getting Turbo to venture into new things, and to honor her interest, Manlegs and I packed up our snowshoes and our boards and went to the hill. The resort is closed today, so we were hiking it.
It was essentially a powder day, and since the resort was closed, no one was grooming the slopes. It was just us and the snow, which was falling heavy by the second. It was quiet, calm, and a perfect way to find my snowboard legs again. I took a couple of dives, and so did Manlegs, but it didn’t hurt. It was like being a kid again and playing in the snow with your best friend. We razzed each other, we threw snow at one another, and we laughed flat on our backs as the snow whispered all around us.
It was an awesome day.
